The paper proposes a critical review of the regulatory tools currently proposed in Sicily for managing interventions in historic centres. The work is conducted through a selection of literature on the subject and data from the analysis of some case studies. The aim is to pinpoint some central issues in urban conservation and some knowledge tools that can support the regulation of interventions on the built heritage.
