This paper aims to contribute to this collection process by investigating one of Sicily's many new towns, Leonforte (Enna). Founded in 1613 by the Branciforte family of Raccuja in the barony of Tavi and located in the heart of wheat Sicily, not far from the castle once standing as defensive garrison of the feud, Leonforte became a court and a small capital through the elevation of Niccolò Placido Branciforte to prince. The study, some results of which are presented here, is an opportunity to reflect on some themes of construction history in ancien régime Sicily and specifically on the role which both the specific conditions of settlement layout and the availability and type of local materials played in the reception of imported construction models.
