Abstract

Common arguments related to Delay-Tolerant Networks often focus on routing performances, energy consumption or quality of service. Despite the fact that privacy-related issues are generally considered critical, they do not arouse the same interest as the other reported aspects. For instance, when the carried information contains sensitive data, it should be protected from malicious intent. Nevertheless, most of the protocols used seem to ignore this, assuming others should take charge of the task. The aim of this document is to propose an innovative routing protocol, able to provide privacy preservation with a delivery performance comparable to the current most widely used protocols by taking inspiration from a feature borrowed from human nature, the vocal timbre. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
