The text, the translation, and the commentary of the second and third books of the first decade of De rebus Siculis by Tommaso Fazello (1498-1570) are provided. The aim is to offer a safe and updated tool for the use of this work, which appeared for the first time in Palermo in 1558. It presents a complete and detailed geographical description of Sicily, supported by an accurate autopsy examination and careful reading of written sources, with special interest in classical antiquities. In particular, the problem of Fazello's method and modern sources of the work was addressed, whose text has so far been considered, uncritically, the result of an exclusively autoptic investigation. To do this, a close comparison was made with archaeological and literary sources.

Vengono forniti il testo, la traduzione e il commento dei libri secondo e terzo della prima decade del De rebus Siculis di Tommaso Fazello (1498-1570). L'obiettivo è offrire uno strumento sicuro e aggiornato per la fruizione di quest'opera, apparsa per la prima volta a Palermo nel 1558. Essa presenta una completa e dettagliata descrizione geografica della Sicilia, sorretta da un accurato esame autoptico e dall'attenta lettura delle fonti scritte, con speciale interesse per le antichità classiche. In particolare, è stato affrontato il problema del metodo e delle fonti moderne dell'opera di Fazello, il cui testo è stato finora considerato, acriticamente, il risultato di un'indagine esclusivamente autoptica. Per fare ciò si è provveduto a un serrato confronto con le fonti archeologiche e letterarie.
