LE FRATTURE MEDIALI DEL COLLO DEL FEMORE NEL PAZIENTE ANZIANO

The elderly are a large and growing percentage of the population who are at risk of fragility fracture after low energy trauma. The locations affected are the spine, wrist, shoulder and femur. Fractures of the femur, and especially those of the femoral neck, usually require surgical correction, with the aim to restore the biomechanics of the limb and to maintain ambulation. In elderly patients, treatment of fractures of the femur must be managed with comorbidities and conditions that characterize the age of senescence. The purpose of this study was to focus attention on the modern treatment of fractures of the medial femoral neck, and, using a surgical case studies, to identify what treatment is most suitable and appropriate, thorough evaluation of the characteristics and peculiarities of the elderly patient and postoperative problems which may result from the type of intervention chosen.

Gli anziani costituiscono una larga e crescente percentuale della popolazione che sono a rischio di fratture da fragilità in seguito a traumi di bassa energia. Le sedi particolarmente coinvolte sono la colonna, il polso, la spalla e il femore. Le fratture del femore, ed in particolar modo quelle del collo femorale, richiedono quasi sempre una correzione chirurgica, con l obbiettivo di ripristinare la biomeccanica dell arto e di preservare la deambulazione. Nei pazienti anziani, il trattamento delle fratture del femore deve essere gestito parallelamente alle comorbilità e alle patologie che caratterizzano l età della senescenza. Scopo del presente lavoro è stato quello di focalizzare l attenzione sui moderni trattamenti delle fratture mediali del collo del femore, e, alla luce di una casistica operatoria, di individuare quale sia il trattamento più idoneo e opportuno, in considerazione delle caratteristiche e peculiarità del paziente anziano e delle problematiche post-operatorie che possono scaturire dalla tipologia di intervento scelto.
