The present study focuses on the methodologies implemented by the young Giacomo Leopardi, who, in just six months during the second half of 1815, produced an incomplete edition of Julius Africanus’ Cesti, preserved in the autograph manuscript Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Rari 342 n. 20. The aim of this paper is to address in more detail some interpretative problems not well resolved by the previous editors and translators of Julius Africanus’ Cesti and at the same time to offer an overview of the points most worthy of reconsideration, especially from an ecdotic, as well as exegetical, perspective regarding Leopardi’s textual choices in relation to the Cesti.

Abstract
The present study focuses on the methodologies implemented by the young Giacomo Leopardi, who, in just six months during the second half of 1815, produced an incomplete edition of Julius Africanus’ Cesti, preserved in the autograph manuscript Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Rari 342 n. 20. The aim of this paper is to address in more detail some interpretative problems not well resolved by the previous editors and translators of Julius Africanus’ Cesti and at the same time to offer an overview of the points most worthy of reconsideration, especially from an ecdotic, as well as exegetical, perspective regarding Leopardi’s textual choices in relation to the Cesti.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
