A Hybrid N-Level T-Type Inverter driven by a nearest level modulation strategy is presented in this paper. Such a topology is composed of a five-level T-type converter and a set of H-Bridge converters, connected to the AC machine according to an open-end winding configuration. Compared to traditional multilevel topologies as Neutral Point Clamped, Flying Capacitor and Cascaded H-Bridge, the proposed one features less power devices for a given amount of output voltage levels and a lower overall cost. Furthermore, good performances are obtained both in terms of efficiency and harmonic distortion of the output voltage. The effectiveness and advantageous characteristics of the proposed configuration are assessed by simulations.
