The present contribution aims to explore the central role of the isotopes of eros and death in Joyce Mansour’s (1928-1986) short story «Marie ou l’honneur de server» – the first and longest récit of Les gisants satisfaits (1958). Through the conceptual and methodological tools provided by literary discourse analysis, we will explore the way in which Mansour fits into the surrealistic erotic interdiscourse, contributing to its enrichment. In particular, the study of the text’s deixis (spatial and temporal) and adjectives will help us to understand how Mansour creates an original enunciative scenario that constantly contradicts the interpretative inferences of the co-enunciator.

Abstract
The present contribution aims to explore the central role of the isotopes of eros and death in Joyce Mansour’s (1928-1986) short story «Marie ou l’honneur de server» – the first and longest récit of Les gisants satisfaits (1958). Through the conceptual and methodological tools provided by literary discourse analysis, we will explore the way in which Mansour fits into the surrealistic erotic interdiscourse, contributing to its enrichment. In particular, the study of the text’s deixis (spatial and temporal) and adjectives will help us to understand how Mansour creates an original enunciative scenario that constantly contradicts the interpretative inferences of the co-enunciator.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
