The recent season of research on vetrina pesante in the context of the Byzantine Mediterranean has only partially involved mid-Byzantine Sicily, for which a substantial supply through trans-Marine trade networks was hypothesised. In the light of the updated framework for the broad and varied Byzantine koinè, it is now possible to reconsider the available data, which hint at a more complex production reality, especially for the 8th and 9th centuries, and allow us to rearticulate questions on production, consumption, reference contexts and attested typologies. The archaeometric analyses carried out on 23 specimens from contexts in Catania, Monte Po, Taormina and Bronte allow us to trace precise references within the two production areas of Catania and Taormina. The presentation of the archaeometric data, in the context of the two production areas of Catania and Taormina, will be conducted in conjunction with an appreciation of the contexts of discovery that refer to a punctual aristocratic clientele.

Abstract
The presentation of the archaeometric data, in the context of the two production areas of Catania and Taormina, will be conducted in conjunction with an appreciation of the contexts of discovery that refer to a punctual aristocratic clientele.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
