This paper explores the potential of passive, flat-patterned electromagnetic skins (EMSs) in enhancing point-to-point fixed wireless access links beyond the asymptotic free-space total path attenuation (TPA) limit. The work delves into the design methodologies, technological challenges, and potential applications of these proposed solutions. Additionally, selected proof-of-concept results to highlight the practical feasibility of the suggested solution strategy in real-world scenarios are discussed. The features and potentialities of the resulting architectural solution in non line-of-sight fixed wireless access scenarios are addressed.

Abstract
This paper explores the potential of passive, flat-patterned electromagnetic skins (EMSs) in enhancing point-to-point fixed wireless access links beyond the asymptotic free-space total path attenuation (TPA) limit. The work delves into the design methodologies, technological challenges, and potential applications of these proposed solutions. Additionally, selected proof-of-concept results to highlight the practical feasibility of the suggested solution strategy in real-world scenarios are discussed. The features and potentialities of the resulting architectural solution in non line-of-sight fixed wireless access scenarios are addressed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
