An approach for the optimal design of phased array antennas generating a sum pattern that satisfies arbitrary mask-constraints on the sidelobes power over a wide operation bandwidth is presented in this work. The synthesis of the complex (amplitude and phase) excitation coefficients of the array elements is cast as the solution of a convex programming problem that guarantees the retrieval of the optimal beam-forming weights. The result of a numerical example is reported to preliminary validate the proposed method.

Abstract
An approach for the optimal design of phased array antennas generating a sum pattern that satisfies arbitrary mask-constraints on the sidelobes power over a wide operation bandwidth is presented in this work. The synthesis of the complex (amplitude and phase) excitation coefficients of the array elements is cast as the solution of a convex programming problem that guarantees the retrieval of the optimal beam-forming weights. The result of a numerical example is reported to preliminary validate the proposed method.File in questo prodotto:
