This paper presents an accurate experimental analysis of the performance of an induction motor drive controlled with a soft switching frequency synchronous pulse width modulation strategy. A comparison with a conventional asynchronous pulse width modulation strategy has been conducted in terms of power quality and power losses, with the latter segregated into fundamental and harmonic power losses. For this purpose, a test bench has been set up and several experimental investigations have been carried out on a three-phase, 4-pole, 5.5 kW induction motor for sixteen different working conditions defined in the torque-speed plane. The results obtained are presented and discussed.

Abstract
This paper presents an accurate experimental analysis of the performance of an induction motor drive controlled with a soft switching frequency synchronous pulse width modulation strategy. A comparison with a conventional asynchronous pulse width modulation strategy has been conducted in terms of power quality and power losses, with the latter segregated into fundamental and harmonic power losses. For this purpose, a test bench has been set up and several experimental investigations have been carried out on a three-phase, 4-pole, 5.5 kW induction motor for sixteen different working conditions defined in the torque-speed plane. The results obtained are presented and discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
