Expert system for macroseimic investigations

Macroseismic studies have been used, up todate, only to perform posterior evaluations on earthquake effects. This paper represents a first step toward the implementation of an automatic tool able to draw a macroseismic field starting only from the earthquake features. Following an 'Expert' approach the authors have built a KB consisting of information on past earthquakes and ground features. Some rules, make possible and infer macroseismic effects on the area sourronding the earthquake epicenter, by acting on this KB, on the ground of a statistical investigation.
