This paper presents a generalized overlap time compensation methodology for current source inverters, which can be employed with several space vector modulation strategies. The proposed approach considers all possible combinations of dwell time sequences. The overlap time compensation method has been validated through simulations and experimental tests conducted on an ohmic-inductive load, covering the considered space vector modulation techniques. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in the power converter performances due to the proposed overlap time compensation solutions in terms of amplitude modulation ratio, total harmonic distortion and overall conversion system efficiency.

Abstract

This paper presents a generalized overlap time compensation methodology for current source inverters, which can be employed with several space vector modulation strategies. The proposed approach considers all possible combinations of dwell time sequences. The overlap time compensation method has been validated through simulations and experimental tests conducted on an ohmic-inductive load, covering the considered space vector modulation techniques. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in the power converter performances due to the proposed overlap time compensation solutions in terms of amplitude modulation ratio, total harmonic distortion and overall conversion system efficiency.
