Abstract

The origin of dwelling in the territory of the former fiefdom of Falconara, in Noto, finds in the rock complex of Sette Grotte a primary settlement archetype, in which the relationship between soil, water and morphology anticipates the founding logic that, over the centuries, will determine the urban and territorial structure of Noto. The complex, located south of the current town, in a slightly sloping area and a few meters from the Asinaro river, represents one of the first traces of stable presence in the area of the Meti hill.
