A novel simple implementation of a fully tunable Izhikevich neuron is proposed in this contribution. The implementation is based on off-the-shelf standard circuit components whose reliability and ease of configuration allows to realize a spiking control system for industrial applications. The circuit design is described focusing in particular on the solutions proposed for implementing the discontinuous nonlinearities which guarantee the spiking behavior. A practical application devoted to the control of a DC motor is also presented.

Abstract
