The paper reconstructs the complex design and construction history of the Real Collegio Capizzi in Bronte (Catania) through a critical analysis of archival documentation preserved at the State Archives of Catania and the Sciuto-Patti Archive at the Accademia degli Zelanti e dei Dafnici in Acireale. Founded on the initiative of the priest Ignazio Capizzi with the aim of providing educational excellence, the construction began in 1774 based on a design by the architect Salvatore Marvuglia, but underwent signifi cant modifi cations in the twentieth century. An unbuilt project by engineer Leandro Caselli (1900) was followed in 1906 by an extension designed by engineer Salvatore Sciuto Patti, who conceived the reconfi guration of the complex and the Church of the Sacred Heart.
