Among the multiple tasks of modern architecture lies the promotion of construction quality in all its various aspects, both from an environmental standpoint, as well as with regard to social integration. Within such a context, the planning of spaces that are truly serviceable to everyone acquires a role of the particular importance, mostly for existing buildings, both private as well as public. The aim of this paper is to propose a methodological process which, by means of a critical understanding of locations, enables us to compare users’ needs planning models with critical issues of existing building, with the aim not only of verifying their real-world applicability, but also of ensuring that adequate levels of usability are met. This methodology will be illustrated through a case study involving the redevelopment of some university buildings in Catania, Sicily, aimed at achieving effective multisensory usability.

Abstract
This methodology will be illustrated through a case study involving the redevelopment of some university buildings in Catania, Sicily, aimed at achieving effective multisensory usability.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
