A study of intermediate-mass fragment production was performed using asymm etric heavy-ion reactions of 40Ca + 1128n and 48Ca + 112,124Sn at 45 AMeV. Projectile-like fragments were measured in coincidence with intermediate-mass fragments and light-charged particles in an exclusive study with the 4pi multi-detector array CHIMERA. A significant fraction of the measured events show production charac teristics appearing consist ent with a dynamical formation mechanism, while the remainder is consistent with statistical decay of an excited PLF. Abstract

This assignment is made by comparison of the data with a standard sequential decay model.
