In this paper the authors take into consideration a real-world set of cables on which the Power Line Communications (PLC) signals are transmitted in the power distribution network of a ship. The electrical signals which convey PLC data are carried by unshielded cables and may therefore interact with the external environment and affect the functioning of other devices. On the basis of a set of working assumptions, several electromagnetic field analyses are performed by means of the Finite Element Method in order to identify the distribution close to the conductors of the electromagnetic field generated by PLC signals and by common mode currents.

Abstract
In this paper the authors take into consideration a real-world set of cables on which the Power Line Communications (PLC) signals are transmitted in the power distribution network of a ship. The electrical signals which convey PLC data are carried by unshielded cables and may therefore interact with the external environment and affect the functioning of other devices. On the basis of a set of working assumptions, several electromagnetic field analyses are performed by means of the Finite Element Method in order to identify the distribution close to the conductors of the electromagnetic field generated by PLC signals and by common mode currents.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
