Abstract

In the chosen territory, a portion of the territory of Belpasso and Paternò within the administrative boundaries of the province of Catania, on the slopes of Mount Etna, coexist different souls and different processings of the soil in an area that has a clear agricultural and citrus connotation. In this scenario, there is the issue of Citrus Tristeza 1 Virus (CTV) which allowed us, through a specific research project, to know the micro-areal, deepening some landscape issues since its presence is relevant to the detriment of the landscape aspects of local Citrus cultures. Over the last decade, the situation has greatly deteriorated in Sicily where numerous outbreaks were found in citrus species grafted onto sour orange trees in almost the whole region. The extent of the phenomenon “Tristeza” and the problems associated with it are certain, obvious and supported by a vast literature, instead languishing territorial approaches that take into account the land transformations and the consequent impact on the territory as a whole, that is the set of vertical and horizontal relationships and the objects and subjects that these relationships bind to each other and to the land, up to its landscape output.
