PERIOPERATIVE MEDICINE

Even today, a wide range differences exist among practitioners of perioperative medicine in their approach to diagnosis and treatment of healthy people who need surgical approach for a specific organ's pathology until the perioperative management of high risk surgical patient. The authors analyze and provide a clinical indication of the most recent recommendations in the main perioperative problems: coexsisting diseases; principles of oxygen delivery and utilization; the infants and children, the elderly and the pregnant; sedation and pain management, surgery and anaesthesia; fluid therapy and blood product; selection of appropriate monitoring techniques; immediate needs of the postoperative patient ;practical aspects and procedures; intraoperative complications; postoperative complications; loco regional anaesthesia; intensive care.
