The sicilian agricultural production and the tourism linked to rural areas: the case of a pod product

The aim of this paper is to point out how the implementation of local governance instruments within a specific area is not often supported by the presence of provided development tools that should consider not only the economic effects but also the landscape related aspects. This lack reveals itself as an obstacle to the development of rural areas, whose landscapes could easily attract touristic flows. In particular, we chose to investigate the case of a POD product, “Pistacchio verde di Bronte”1, for its unique landscape characteristics, such as the social results, etc.
