In previous papers the authors have reported the results of numerical simulations of a competition racing-car body, where an implicit program in the static field (MSC/NASTRAN) and an explicit program in the dynamic sinusoidal field (RADIOSS) were used to calibrate the static model by experimental thermographic techniques, and to calibrate the dynamic model by the results obtained from the static model. Based on this research, the present paper analyses the case of a further development of the car body which is subjected to race loading conditions (sharp movement of the steering-wheel at a velocity of 180 km/h with lateral acceleration of 2g).

Abstract

In previous papers the authors have reported the results of numerical simulations of a competition racing-car body, where an implicit program in the static field (MSC/NASTRAN) and an explicit program in the dynamic sinusoidal field (RADIOSS) were used to calibrate the static model by experimental thermographic techniques, and to calibrate the dynamic model by the results obtained from the static model. Based on this research, the present paper analyses the case of a further development of the car body which is subjected to race loading conditions (sharp movement of the steering-wheel at a velocity of 180 km/h with lateral acceleration of 2g).
