The aim of this paper is to present some observations on the relation between word and power in the text Sulwan al-muta' by the Arabic erudite polygraph Ibn Zafar as-Siqilli. The paper will focus on a complex of interconnected issues: the nature of discourse and its deviations from the model; the rituals through which the author performs his utterances; the form, or forms, that words and concepts assume in the text on the wake of a long and complex process developed by earlier writers; the positive function of the word also in pragmatic terms; the hierarchical order in which the various typologies of discourse are organized; the manipulation of discourse through rhetoric.

Nel contributo si intendono presentare alcune osservazioni sulla relazione tra parola e potere nel Sulwan al-muta' de poligrafo arabo-siculo Ibn Zafar.A esser prese in considerazione saranno una complessa serie di questioni fra loro connesse:la natura del discorso e le sue deviazioni dal modello; i rituali ai quali l'autore ricorre per esprimersi;la forma o le forme che le parole e i concetti assumono nel testo sulla scia di un lungo e complesso processo sviluppato dagli autori precedenti; la funzione positiva della parola anche in termini pragmatici;la manipolazione del discorso attraverso i procedimenti retorici.
