Cardiac arrest occurs with one of four arrhythmias: ventricular fibrillation (VF), pulseless ventricular tachycardia (VT), pulseless electrical activity (PEA) and asystole. The author analyzes the causes and pathophysiology of arrhythmias reported the guidelines 2010 for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) of the American Heart Association.
