The red blood cells flow in a controlledenvironment as a microfluidic chip with a rectilinear geometrywas investigated. The optical monitoring performed by anautomatic Particle Image Velocimetry procedure has allowed aquantitative analysis on flow features. Various parameterssuch as velocity, shear rate, strain rate, vorticity, divergencewere extracted. The comparisons of the results obtained fromthe different experiments was used for the overallunderstanding of the RBC movements in different conditionsand the establishment of the analysis procedure.

Abstract
The red blood cells flow in a controlledenvironment as a microfluidic chip with a rectilinear geometrywas investigated. The optical monitoring performed by anautomatic Particle Image Velocimetry procedure has allowed aquantitative analysis on flow features. Various parameterssuch as velocity, shear rate, strain rate, vorticity, divergencewere extracted. The comparisons of the results obtained fromthe different experiments was used for the overallunderstanding of the RBC movements in different conditionsand the establishment of the analysis procedure.File in questo prodotto:
