Abstract

Experimental results aimed at estimating the effectiveness of a new absorbing tapered-column sheet pile dock to control wave reflection within harbors are presented. The new system has good structural dynamic characteristics and therefore it can be used in high risk seismic areas. The optimal design dimensions have been determined for a specific range of wave forcing in a microtidal coast. It turned out that the reflection coefficients are generally low, up to 0.3, even with a relatively narrow chamber.
