The hybrid FEM-DBCI numerical method is proposed for the computation of transferred earth potentials from grounding grids. The method foresees the decomposition of the analysis domain in detached subdomains to be analyzed by means of FEM and linked together by means of the DBCI integral equation, which involves the Green's function of the stratified soil. A great advantage of method is that it directly provides the electric potential distribution on the earth surface as part of the solution.

Abstract

The hybrid FEM-DBCI numerical method is proposed for the computation of transferred earth potentials from grounding grids. The method foresees the decomposition of the analysis domain in detached subdomains to be analyzed by means of FEM and linked together by means of the DBCI integral equation, which involves the Green's function of the stratified soil. A great advantage of method is that it directly provides the electric potential distribution on the earth surface as part of the solution.
