This paper reports the results of experimental tests aimed at the comprehension of the behaviour of concrete and mortar modified by introducing in the mixture of Polyvinyl-Alcohol in aqueous solution. The mechanical properties such as the uniaxial compression strength, the elastic modulus and the influence of a cross-linking agent are investigated. Uniaxial tests under displacement control both monotonic and cyclic are performed to study the ductility properties of the new composite material and the degradation of the secant stiffness. Moreover, Scanning Electron Microscopic observations are performed to understand the results from a microstructural point of view.

Abstract
This paper reports the results of experimental tests aimed at the comprehension of the behaviour of concrete and mortar modified by introducing in the mixture of Polyvinyl-Alcohol in aqueous solution. The mechanical properties such as the uniaxial compression strength, the elastic modulus and the influence of a cross-linking agent are investigated. Uniaxial tests under displacement control both monotonic and cyclic are performed to study the ductility properties of the new composite material and the degradation of the secant stiffness. Moreover, Scanning Electron Microscopic observations are performed to understand the results from a microstructural point of view.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
