Citrus fruits are principally consumed by humans as fresh fruit or processed juice, either fresh chilled or concentrated. After juice axtraction from the fruit, remains a residue called " pastazzo" comprised of peel (flavedo and albedo), pulp (juice sac residue), rag (membranes and coes)and seeds.Every year amount of 600-650 tons of "pastazzo" werw product in Sicily, creating a series of issues related to the cost of the production process and disposition of this residual materials.
