Twentieth-century, in the first decades, condense many experiences consolidates during previous two century as regards the reconstruction of the towns destroyed by earthquakes. In Calabria (Italy) since XVII century, a constructive system, described as “timber framed” (baraccato), has been used; it survived the earthquakes and so it has been considered as aseismic one. All rules following disastrous earthquakes admitted the use of timber-framed structures considering them as scientific methods (1905). The paper, first of all describe the timber-framed technological system, and then is aimed towards substantiate, by a protocol of non destructive tests, the real stock of this building aseismic heritage existing in Reggio Calabria.
