Paths to knowledge for the preservation of identity cultures

The need to read the material, with the specific aim of going back to the ancient structuringgeometries, makes it necessary to pay more attention to the local culture and to the identityexpressions connected with the shape and the material and aiming at penetrating into the sense ofhistory which is of fundamental importance in the interventions in small and large scale.There are some works, halfway between sculpture and architecture, which testify the use of shapesand models belonging to the cultural traditions of their local areas, but, at the same time, they areconnected with different cultures. They are proper architectures inside architecture, which means theyare architectural structures in a small scale and they also show the great creative skills of Sicilianartists.The great variety of the elements taken into consideration shows a coherence of language, theexpression of a way of doing architecture, even in small scale works.In order to better emphasize these structural similarities, the research will make use of epistemologicalprocesses, supported by a peculiar perceptual discretion sensitivity in which, the survey throughsensitive instrumentations and the representation through virtual models establish a dialogue which ispreliminary to any preservation actions with a scientific base and necessary to remember instead offorgetting.
