Gregorio, vescovo di Tours, nei suoi Historiarum Libri esalta Clodoveo, primo sovrano merovingio a convertirsi al cattolicesimo, quale fondatore del regnum Francorum, trascurando l'importante ruolo dei suoi predecessori pagani, ossia Teudomero, Clodione, Meroveo e Childerico.
