According to the Scientific Research Programmes approach by Imre Lakatos a group of scholars can be considered to belong to a school of thoughtif they share some major epistemological elements such as the core of investigation and positive and negative heuristics. In terms of this definition, in the history of economic thought a good example of a school is provided by neoclassicism. Unfortunately, Post Keynesian economics is so heterogeneousthat it cannot be considered to belong to a school in the sense of the Lakatosian definition. For this reason we propose an alternative way to approach the thought of Post Keynesian economists, taking inspiration fromLarry Laudan’s Research Traditions in order to investigate, using a singlecategory, which we call historical realism, the particular case of the legacy of Augusto Graziani and Luigi Lodovico Pasinetti thought in Italy.

Abstract
According to the Scientific Research Programmes approach by Imre Lakatos a group of scholars can be considered to belong to a school of thoughtif they share some major epistemological elements such as the core of investigation and positive and negative heuristics. In terms of this definition, in the history of economic thought a good example of a school is provided by neoclassicism. Unfortunately, Post Keynesian economics is so heterogeneousthat it cannot be considered to belong to a school in the sense of the Lakatosian definition. For this reason we propose an alternative way to approach the thought of Post Keynesian economists, taking inspiration fromLarry Laudan’s Research Traditions in order to investigate, using a singlecategory, which we call historical realism, the particular case of the legacy of Augusto Graziani and Luigi Lodovico Pasinetti thought in Italy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
