Leandro Fernández de Moratín is one of the nineteenth-century readers of La Celestina. Not only does he devote some well-known passages to this work in his Orígenes del Teatro Español (1838), but he also produced some critical notes which have remained unpublished. On the one hand, however scant, his notes offer relevant data on the reception of the text at a significant time of Spanish cultural history; on the other, they confirm the main tenets of Moratín’s aesthetic (especially the chronotope and the character’s function) which shapes, as one would expect, his reading of La Celestina.

Abstract
Leandro Fernández de Moratín is one of the nineteenth-century readers of La Celestina. Not only does he devote some well-known passages to this work in his Orígenes del Teatro Español (1838), but he also produced some critical notes which have remained unpublished. On the one hand, however scant, his notes offer relevant data on the reception of the text at a significant time of Spanish cultural history; on the other, they confirm the main tenets of Moratín’s aesthetic (especially the chronotope and the character’s function) which shapes, as one would expect, his reading of La Celestina.File in questo prodotto:
