In this communication we present some work in progress on the impact of capacity constraint on the dynamics of supply chains. On the basis of empirical observations, we model and simulate a novel and more realistic capacity constraint condition in supply chains, specifically by considering load dependent lead times. In countertendency with previous related studies, results show that capacity restrictions may noticeable contribute to the demand amplification phenomenon, holding costs and stock-out events.
