The pottery found at Valcorrente belongs to the typical ceramic classes produced and used in the Etnean region between the Middle Neolithic and the Early Bronze Age – Stentinello, Serra D’alto, Diana, Malpasso, Sant’Ippolito, Castelluccio and Rodì-Tindari-Vallelunga – and suggests that the site was abandoned for about 2000 years in coincidence with the middle phases of the Copper Age. The publication of this pottery has been entrusted to an equip of young researchers, composed by L. Lombardo, E. Messina, F. Giacoppo, A. Barbera, E. Listo, P. Mendola. The study – still ongoing – is coordinated by S. Todaro who, together with R. Mentesana, has taken over the responsibility of reconstructing the chaîne opératoire of the various ceramic classes within the framework of a holistic approach. In this paper the methodology and the approaches followed will be presented alongside the preliminary results of the study of the contexts excavated in 2012.
