Vendicari. Un emblematico contesto archeologico litoraneo

We examine in detail the context of Vendicari: today the protected area is a coastal natural scenery of inland lagoons connected with the sea where, according to archaeological and historical sources, are located: ancient settlements, one of Roman and other of Byzantine age; one ancient and another modern ‘tonnara’; modern, perhaps already ancient, salt factories; coastal quarries, a medieval, probably already ancient, harbour. An example of contextual protection of the natural, cultural and archaeological heritage in a wonderful maritime coastal environment.
