The theoretical starting point of our contribution is the thesis that learning a foreign language always has an impact on the self-concept and the identity of the individual. This means that identities are not homogeneous, but inconsistent and multiple. This can also be seen in Abbas Khider, who sees the German language as his “new tongue”. The relationship between language and aspects of the construction of identity in Abbas Khider's texts will be illustrated in our contribution using examples from his novels.

Abstract
The theoretical starting point of our contribution is the thesis that learning a foreign language always has an impact on the self-concept and the identity of the individual. This means that identities are not homogeneous, but inconsistent and multiple. This can also be seen in Abbas Khider, who sees the German language as his “new tongue”. The relationship between language and aspects of the construction of identity in Abbas Khider's texts will be illustrated in our contribution using examples from his novels.File in questo prodotto:
