Architetture in aria

Air as a construction material transfers the concept of formlessness into a different idea of architecture that still demands a future and further maturation, very different from the results seen so far in the inflatable structures we know. Pneumatic architectures, by revealing the form of air and the vital importance of the atmosphere for life, have posed a radical question that does not concern technology at all but the conditions and ways of inhabiting the Earth. The problem of air will not be a simple technological issue for the architecture of the next few years, but a substantial and decisive question that cannot be avoided.

L’aria come materiale da costruzione trasferisce il concetto di informe in un’idea diversa di architettura che ancora reclama un futuro e un’ulteriore maturazione, molto diversa dagli esiti visti fino ad oggi nelle strutture gonfiabili che conosciamo. Le architetture pneumatiche svelando la forma dell’aria e la vitale importanza dell’atmosfera per la vita, hanno posto una domanda radicale che non riguarda affatto la tecnica ma le condizioni e i modi di abitare la Terra. Il problema dell’aria sarà per l’architettura dei prossimi anni non un semplice tema tecnologico ma una questione sostanziale e decisiva a cui non ci si potrà sottrarre.
