Lo studio sottolinea l’importanza della produzione cerealicola siciliana per l’approvvigionamento di Roma al tempo di Gregorio Magno; in particolare recupera dal Registrum gregoriano le notizie sulle operazioni di coemptio, di trasporto e di ammasso negli horrea ecclesiastici e pubblici.
