Viaggi di libertà: il caso di “Alexandra David-Néel”

The chapter focuses on the life of the traveler Alexandra David-Neel, in or- der to explain the choice of the destination of the trip as a manifestation of spiritual awareness or the search and reaffirmation of identity. The survey contributes to the study of the female role within the geography of the pilgrimage, but also on the importance of the link between geography and gender to strengthen and enhance the female presence in tourist mobility.

Il contributo si focalizza sulla vita della viaggiatrice Alexandra David-Neel, al fine di spiegare la scelta della destinazione del viaggio come manifestazione di consa- pevolezza spirituale o la ricerca e la riaffermazione della propria identità femminile ed interiore. L’indagine contribuisce allo studio del ruolo femminile all’interno della geografia del pellegrinaggio ma, anche, sull’importanza del connubio tra geografia e genere per rafforzare ed esaltare la presenza femminile nella mobilità turistica.
