“Viaggi della disperazione”: recente storia socio-istituzionale del sistema dell’accoglienza dei migranti nell’area del sud-calatino (2011-2019)

The Mediterranean, therefore, confirms itself as a hodgepodge of encounters and comparisons, often also dictated by dramatic contingencies. The journey "in search of fortune" or "a better world ”brings to mind indelible images of the great migrations of past. We escaped from persecutions - which the biblical account already handed down to us - in this way as from civil wars, from internal conflicts which, among others, have the fault of creating generations of fugitives and refugees. In this perspective, Roberto's contribution should be read Tufano and Antonio Gambuzza, based on the consultation of the dramatic current data which reflect with harsh truth the conditions of "desperate" forced to "travel" not for pleasure or to complete the studies, but to escape from painful conditions and effective social, political, economic hardship. The reflection focuses on a portion meaningful of that Mediterranean, a crossroads of stories and people, welcoming and problematic, but always with well-defined outlines in terms of human reception. The study of the territorial context of Calatino Sud-Simeto can provide, in this sense, interesting answers.
