The cross section of Li-8(alpha,n)B-11 is very important for the study of primordial nucleosinthesys models. In this paper we report on the production of a Li-8 beam via the Li-7(d,p)Li-8 reaction at the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud. Also, a novel experimental technique for measuring the reaction Li-8(alpha,n)B-11 at energies of astrophysical interest has been implemented and tested.

Abstract

The cross section of Li-8(alpha,n)B-11 is very important for the study of primordial nucleosinthesys models. In this paper we report on the production of a Li-8 beam via the Li-7(d,p)Li-8 reaction at the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud. Also, a novel experimental technique for measuring the reaction Li-8(alpha,n)B-11 at energies of astrophysical interest has been implemented and tested.
