Abstract

The topic of majority and obedience typically belongs to ecclesiology, in particular to its institutional dimension, and at the same time describes various aspects of ecclesial life in the many profiles of interaction between the secular and religious spheres. This article focuses on the canonical meaning of both terms and their relationship in the context of the colonial dominions of the Hispanic Monarchy.

El tema de la mayoridad y la obediencia pertenece típicamente a la eclesiología, en particular a su dimensión institucional, y al mismo tiempo describe varios aspectos de la vida eclesial en los muchos perfiles de interacción entre las esferas secular y religiosa. Este artículo se centra en el significado canónico de ambos términos y su relación en el contexto de los dominios coloniales de la Monarquía hispana.
