Drivers of Violent Religious Extremism

Contemporary violent Islamist extremism in Europe is the product of a series of societal and political dynamics that began decades ago, both within and outside the continent. Moreover, it must be noted that the current perspective on religious radicalisation from the analytical angle of academic literature highlights, more than in the past, the convergent interest in this issue from many scientific disciplines, assuming that the complexity and variety of radicalisation phenomenology cannot be fully grasped from a single perspective; indeed, it seems to be inherently interdisciplinary in its constituent elements
