Orthodontic elastics are latex medical devices that allow to correct malocclusions when applied to fixed orthodontic appliance. There are various types of elastics, classified according to their size and thickness. As these two parameters vary, the force expressed changes (the one declared by the manufacturer is reached if is stretched three times of their inner diameter). There are many types on the market (up to 36) and it is difficult for clinicians to choose the right elastic for the different therapeutic indications. The device we designed with the basis of a scientific clinical study on elastics on the market allows you to easily choose the appropriate elastic for each clinical condition among only 5 different types.
