The present study explores the migrants’ and professionals’ narrati- ves from an ethnographic perspective with the aim of highlighting recurrent frames and cultural scripts of the discourse of and on migrants. The participant observation technique has allowed the author to access emic data that consists of the conceptual schemes and categories regarded as meaningful and appropriate by the profes- sionals and by the migrants involved in the current research. Etic constructs, which are models of analysis, have been developed star- ting from their emic accounts. Recurrent frames and cultural scripts have emerged from the emic data and have revealed the importance of collecting narratives by mean of an ethnographic technique in or- der to develop linguistic and cultural understanding and ultimately to promote effective models of inclusion.
