Smart city, a changing concept: a critical review. The work is based on a review of the main strands of research, approaches, theoretical-methodological perspectives about smart city emerged during the last years, by highlighting some recently emerged fields of research that will probably have more potential to be developed in the future. Inserted in the literature about cities, new technologies and urban governance – mainly in the field of geography – the work retraces the historical evolution of the theoretical-operational framework of smartness, especially deepening critical approaches that have underlined its controversial implications.
